Financial Management for Caritas-Spes Ukraine Network

On October 6-7, a two-day training on Financial Management of Caritas-Spes Ukraine Network was held for directors of diocesan centers, accountants and employees of the National Office of the Mission, conducted by a certified business trainer, Doctor of Economics, Kateryna Proskura.

“Managing an organization requires knowledge of financial management tools. The Pope often emphasizes that the Church should be characterized by transparency and openness to others. I hope that this strategic session will help the ministers of Caritas-Spes Ukraine to implement the words of the Church and the principles of Caritas (Internationalis) in life”,  Fr. Viacheslav Hrynevych, Secretary General of the Mission, shared his feedback after a three-day seminar.

Ildika Shufrych, chief accountant of the Mukachevo center of the Mission, said that the training was important and timely for her. "I work as an accountant and also hire employees, so the training was relevant for me, as I received answers to the questions I had, as well as the presentation of the Mission's network, its goals and strategy were very important for me," said Ms. Ildika.

Vitalii Bodnaretskyi, an accountant who represented the Mission's center of the Kamianets-Podilskyi diocese, said that the topic of cooperation of the Caritas-Spes Ukraine Network was also extremely important for him. "The way the network works, how it is built was crucial for me. I work in the financial sector, and during the training I found answers to some questions I had. Thank you for such intense and involving three days", commented Mr. Vitalii.

The strategic seminar was held within the framework of the project Development of Local Self-Organization and Civic Engagement in Ukraine, implemented with the support of the German Government and the Renovabis Foundation.
