27 humanitarian centres; 6 logistics hubs; 13 aid programmes and 41,028 people who received aid - these are the main results of one of the largest projects of Caritas-Spes Ukraine.
The Emergency Appeal Project was implemented from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. Its main objective was to support the most urgent needs here and now, responding immediately to the most pressing needs of people during the war.
The focus was on helping those who have become even more vulnerable since the full-scale invasion and are often on the verge of survival - IDPs, the elderly over 70, large families, pregnant women, and people with disabilities of groups I and II.
The Emergency Appeal involved more than 350 staff members and volunteers from 32 local Caritas-Spes Ukraine centers in 7 dioceses of the RCC. For the large project team, it was an exhausting but inspiring year, full of challenges and pain for those whose lives were radically changed by the war.
An extremely important step in understanding the quality of any project is to conduct an independent evaluation after its completion. And we are no exception to this rule.
Project activities were independently evaluated by external experts who reviewed the work performed in terms of relevance/appropriateness, effectiveness, accountability, coordination, impact/sustainability, and expected (planned) results.
To read its findings, please find the "Report on the independent final evaluation of the Emergency Appeal Project".
Our work would not have been possible without the amazing support of Caritas Internationals: the 25 member organisations of the confederation raised €4,383,485 for the project. We are incredibly grateful to our colleagues from all over the world, who have proved their commitment to the ideas of just peace and merciful love with their perseverance every day.
The Emergency Appeal project has come to an end, but Caritas-Spes Ukraine is launching new programmes to provide emergency assistance to victims of the war. Our commitment to supporting those affected by the war continues to unite people from all over the world.
