"Step Forward": The Strength of Family in Challenging Times

Sometimes life brings unexpected challenges, but they often reveal new sources of strength. This is what happened in the life of 43-year-old Maria Duda from Novoiavorivsk. Together with her husband, she has been building a strong and loving family for more than 20 years, raising three children.

The family learned that their youngest son had Down syndrome only after he was born. During the pregnancy, neither medical examinations nor doctors indicated any developmental differences. However, this news did not change what mattered most. Maria and her husband continued to support Danylo and help him discover the world around him.

Today, Danylo studies in a regular class at his local school. With the support of a teaching assistant, he follows the school curriculum and continues to learn and grow. Setting aside their daily responsibilities, Maria and Danylo joined the “Step Forward” project, where they gained new experiences, received support, and enjoyed valuable time together.
