This is the moment when we urgently need the EU solidarity. We need powerful solidarity of the whole world. We need to help Ukraine — Caritas Europe President, Michael Landau
First and foremost, this war means enormous suffering, and we see the humanitarian catastrophe. Caritas Ukraine and Caratis Spes stand beside these people, both Caritas Europa and Caritas Internazionalis stand on their side and try to support them, so the world must not forget about Ukraine. It is not just about oil, gas, politics, military actions but about suffering of women, children and men.
We pray for peace, we hope the world will find a way back to diplomacy. I am grateful to Caritas Poland, Caritas Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, all neighbouring countries. We all stand near those who suffer from this war. This is the moment when we urgently need the EU solidarity, we urgently need powerful solidarity of the whole world. We need to support Ukraine, preparing and offering safety and all necessary stuff for refugees.
We need humanitarian corridors, abilities to reach the people. We must also provide security for those who will be working in humanitarian missions. Europe must not forget the suffering of people in Ukraine. They need us now! Every donated euro saves one’s life. So I’m so pleased that Caritas groups have united to support Ukraine today.
