Our partners from Caritas Germany visited a new camp in Oleksandrivka – a safe space for trust and communication.
While the veteran families were sharing experiences and participating in activities, a program coordinator Hanna Kikwitzki and MHPSS consultant Kristina Eberle visited group sessions with the veterans’ children and also spoke with the project psychologists. The German colleagues were able to gain a deeper understanding of the children’s needs, identify the most effective support methods, and strengthen emotional resilience.
During the visit, the partners also familiarized themselves with other activities, including sessions for adult family members – such as glass painting workshops. These workshops, led by our project specialists, help participants slow down and accept the outcome as it is, while also providing feelings of satisfaction and joy – a valuable resource.
In a concluding discussion, the partners from Germany, together with representatives of the «Veteran’s Family» project, discussed future avenues of collaboration, shared their experience, and agreed on next steps for the development of the camp program.
«Veteran’s Family» is the project, which brings together veterans’ families through rehabilitation camps for all family members, providing them with the necessary space for psychological support and self-recovery.
The initiative is implemented with the support of Caritas Germany and Caritas-Spes Ukraine.
