The first HOPE camp: from support to new opportunities for displaced people

The first camp of HOPE: Operations for Protection and Evacuation is coming to an end.

During the last days of the camp, our center in Zhytomyr region welcomed Francesco Fornari, Country Representative for Caritas Italiana in Ukraine. During his monitoring visit, he met with the project team, learned more about the camp program, and spoke with participants. Meetings like these help better understand people’s real needs and find practical solutions together.

Our partner also visited the site and looked at the living conditions of internally displaced people. Together with representatives of Caritas-Spes Ukraine, they discussed the next steps for developing the initiative.

In total, over nearly a month of the project, 21 participants from Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions received individual social support and psychosocial assistance from our specialists. In addition, some families received legal consultations based on their needs.

In a few days, our partners from Save Ukraine will help participants reach new places where they can continue searching for housing, jobs, and educational opportunities for their children with renewed strength. At the beginning of April, our center in Zhytomyr region will welcome new participants and become a place of support and gradual recovery for them.

HOPE is an important initiative for the most vulnerable people in the regions of Ukraine most affected by the conflict. The project gives evacuated Ukrainians a chance to regain stability, gather inner strength, and believe that even after a difficult journey, it is possible to start again.
