Iryna Ashchuk came to the Step Forward project from Ladyzhyn in Vinnytsia region with her 8-year-old daughter, Sofiia. The first signs that Sofiia might have autism appeared when she was one and a half years old. However, her diagnosis was not confirmed until she was six, just before she started school.
Today, Sofiia attends an inclusive classroom, where she is supported by a teaching assistant. At home, her mother continues to work with her every day. According to Iryna, the greatest progress comes from combining daily practice at home, support from specialists, and inclusive education. Thanks to this comprehensive approach, she sees her daughter gradually developing and discovering new opportunities.
Iryna first learned about the Step Forward corrective and rehabilitation program from a friend and later found more information on the project's social media page. That is how she decided to join our community.
