A few days ago, the second camp of the HOPE project started at our center in Zhytomyr region. A team of psychologists welcomed 23 displaced people from Donetsk region. The youngest participant is only one year old. Along with their suitcases, the participants also brought their pets, who need calm and safety just as much as their owners.
Our partners from Save Ukraine helped to organize a safe evacuation and made sure the families were protected. During the first 10 days, the project team will work side by side with the participants. They will provide initial psychological support and help meet basic needs.
Later, each family will receive individual social support and psychosocial care based on their needs. We stay close so people can regain their strength, feel support, and take the next step toward stability.
HOPE is an important initiative for the most vulnerable people in regions of Ukraine that have suffered the most from the conflict. The project gives evacuated Ukrainians a chance to feel stable again, gather inner strength, and believe that even after a difficult journey, it is possible to start over.
The project is implemented with the support of Caritas Italiana and Caritas-Spes Ukraine, with the assistance of Save Ukraine.
