Healing Creativity: Art Therapy for Evacuated Families at Camp Hope

Healing Creativity: Art Therapy for Evacuated Families at Camp Hope

Psychologists from the HOPE project in the Zhytomyr region continue working with people evacuated from frontline areas. Here, participants get to know each other, gradually open up to communication, and take part in joint activities that help reduce tension and provide a sense of support.

Recently, an art therapy session called “Coffee Painting” took place. As part of our psychological support for families, specialists held a creative meeting using specific techniques. The session helped participants express their emotions, ease tension and anxiety, and improve communication and interaction within the group. Sometimes, all it takes to share one’s feelings is a brush, a sheet of paper, and a little inspiration. The warm aroma of coffee, soft natural colors, and a calm atmosphere helped participants relax, open up, and convey their emotions through creativity.

During the session, the project team observed improved moods and strengthened family interactions. Through creativity, parents and children were able to support each other and enjoy the joy of a shared process. Moments like these gradually help restore inner resources and a sense of stability.

HOPE: Operations for Protection and Evacuation is a project aimed at supporting the most vulnerable groups in regions of Ukraine most affected by the war: mothers with children, single parents, people with disabilities, large families, and the elderly.

The project is implemented with the support of Caritas Italiana, Caritas-Spes Ukraine, and with the assistance of Save Ukraine.
