Visit of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia to Caritas-Spes Projects in Zhytomyr Region
Cooperation and support are the foundation on which good deeds for the benefit of others are built.
The Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, in cooperation with Slovenska karitas, supports the restoration of homes, psychosocial assistance, rehabilitation and recreation of children in Slovenia, preparation of people from frontline areas for winter, and many other important projects.
On October 29, a foreign delegation from the Republic of Slovenia, headed by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ms. Tanja Fajon, visited the social kitchen in Zhytomyr, for which they purchased a vehicle so that the Caritas-Spes Zhytomyr team could travel to remote areas and feed those in need. They also provided a generator to ensure that even during long power outages, people would always have a hot meal. In addition, the Ministry supported a month of meals for internally displaced persons at the social kitchen. Ms. Fajon spoke with the people, listened to their difficult stories how they were forced to leave their homes or lost their roofs over their heads and sincerely expressed her sympathy and support.
Afterwards, the delegation visited the Nadiya Recreation Center in Zarychany. After that, the delegation visited the “Nadiya” Recreation Center in Zarichany, where the official part of the meeting took place. On behalf of the local authorities, Vitalii Bunechko, Head of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, emphasized the importance of such projects. The Ms. Minister once again highlighted the significance of cooperation and mutual support in the name of peace, while Fr. Viacheslav Grynevych, on behalf of Caritas-Spes Ukraine, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Slovenian people for their continued support and assistance. Following short speeches the children who are staying and studying at the center performed an interactive presentation, joined by all the guests.
Ms. Fajon had the opportunity to see firsthand how, thanks to Slovenia’s support, the center has developed and become a truly safe and nurturing space for children with special needs.
“Please accept from the bottom of our hearts the solidarity and support of the Slovenian people for the Ukrainian people. We are personally grateful to Caritas-Spes Ukraine and Caritas Slovenia for their close cooperation toward our common goals. And we truly wish for this bloody war to end soon,” said Minister Tanja Fajon.
