Christmas is coming in a moment!

We want to greet each of you and present a Christmas card created by Father Vyacheslav Grynevych SAC.
Infant Jesus is the image of children who have seen war.

"I was inspired to create this Christmas card by the images contained in the history of Ukrainian culture and poetry, unveiling the stories of persecution and exile, as well as the struggle for Ukrainian identity. The image of an exiled mother who saves her child is very common in our cultural tradition. Also, the very image of the Virgin Mary is the image of a woman with a rather difficult fate, but in God's way, we see the depth of her act differently. Living in modern times, we feel Him very closely. Perhaps this image may appear to be drastic at times, and the postcard is not simple in normal perception, on the other hand, it is our reality and we are participants in the story when a woman, a mother-keeper, is forced to save her child and flee.
This image shows not only the story of a particular person, it is also an image of the history of Ukraine, as well as the story of the Virgin, who Herself gave meaning to that suffering through patience, endurance and trust in the Lord God. In traditional images we see Mary, Jesus and Joseph, but in this card Joseph is not present, he stays to defend his home, his family, his country and his history. We are now experiencing an epic moment, looking forward to the resolution. This image resonates with the Ukrainian woman who is alone in this war with a child in her arms.
