“This is very important for every mom: to realize that you’re not alone, that you have this kind of support…”

During the “Light Is Near” inclusive camps on resilience and empathy for families raising children with special educational needs, psychologists, an inclusion specialist, and volunteers work with both adults and children, and the program includes a variety of activities and recreational opportunities, as well as opportunities for interaction and support.

Ms. Daria participated in the first ten-day inclusive “Light Is Near” resilience and empathy camp for families raising children with special educational needs.

She is a single mother raising her children on her own. She arrived at the “Yablunytsia” Children’s Village from Zaporizhzhia with her two sons.

During the war, Daria lost her mother — whose health could not withstand the hardships of explosions and devastation — and her brother, who was defending Ukraine on the front lines, went missing in action…

Despite everything, Daria is trying to cope with the daily hardships she faces; she is studying to become a psychologist so she can help herself and other mothers of children with special educational needs.

This project is implemented by the “Caritas-Spes Ukraine” Religious Mission with financial support from the charitable organization Caritas Deutschland.
