FARM — Strengthening Agricultural Livelihoods for Vulnerable Households

The project is implemented with the financial support of Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

Project area: Kharkiv Oblast, in particular Izium District, Barvinkove community.

Implementation period: 1.08.2025 - 31.07.2026

The FARM project aims to support farming households in Kharkiv Oblast through financial assistance and technical support.

Farmers will receive cash assistance to purchase inputs, improve irrigation, and repair damaged infrastructure.

Project goal:

To support small-scale farming households in restoring agricultural production, improving income, and sustaining livelihoods.

Project objectives:

• restoration of small-scale farming households’ activities;
• enhancement of the economic capacity and profitability of farming households;
• support for sustainable livelihoods in rural communities.

Types of assistance:

First grant: from UAH 33,600 to UAH 125,000 for the purchase of agricultural inputs, infrastructure repairs, and equipment; Second grant: from UAH 8,400 to UAH 16,800 for farm development, conditional upon participation in training sessions

*The grant is disbursed after completing the training.

Assistance includes:

• Procurement of seeds, fertilizers, feed, and livestock;
• Improvement of irrigation systems, repair or replacement of damaged agricultural equipment;
• Rehabilitation of agricultural infrastructure, including warehouses, storage facilities, and barns.

Training and advisory support

Topics covered in the training:

• Agricultural technologies and soil management;
• Plant protection;
• Processing and marketing of agricultural products;
• Training sessions for farming households.

Ongoing support and advisory services:

• Support in the effective use of grant funds;
• Advisory support on business planning and agricultural enterprise development.

How to apply:

Review the participation conditions.

Details can be obtained from the local council, the village head, or project coordinators. Priority is given to vulnerable households.

1. Submit an application.
 Provide a short description and a budget for your agricultural activity.

2. Wait for the decision. The selection committee will review applications and determine the participants.

3. Receive support and implement your plan. Financial assistance is provided in two stages, after which you will implement the planned activities.

Participant selection criteria:

Households that meet the following criteria are eligible to participate in the project.

Key requirements:

• Farming households or households located in Kharkiv Oblast (Izium District, Barvinkove community);
• Households engaged in agricultural activities;
• Willingness to develop or restore farming activities.

Priority categories:

• Households affected by the war;
• Households with low income or loss of income sources;
• Large households (three or more children);
• Households that include persons with disabilities;
• Single-provider households;
• Households with pregnant women or children under 3 years old;
• Households headed by individuals aged 45+ who have lost their jobs;
• Households with elderly persons (60+).

Important: One assistance package is provided per household, and funds must be used in accordance with the approved budget, with supporting documentation for expenditures.
