“Reconstruction” Programme

The programme is implemented with the support of CRS (Catholic Relief Services), Caritas Norway, Caritas Slovenia, and Caritas Germany.

Project location: Kharkiv region.

Programme implementation period: 2022 – present

The "Reconstruction" Programme helps people whose homes and communities have been affected by the war restore dignified and safer living conditions. We repair damaged homes and essential social infrastructure and support communities most in need of assistance.

Programme objectives:

  • Repairing residential buildings damaged by the war and contributing to safer and more dignified living conditions.
  • Restoring essential social and community infrastructure, including schools, healthcare facilities, and other facilities necessary for communities to function effectively.
  • Supporting households and residents of war-affected and frontline areas who are most in need of assistance.
  • Strengthening community capacity and engaging local residents in recovery processes.

Programme participants:

  • older people;
  • people with disabilities;
  • large families and single parents;
  • internally displaced persons in need of housing solutions;
  • residents of frontline and recently de-occupied areas who need support;
  • communities in need of restoration of essential social infrastructure.

As part of its work, the programme team conducts needs assessments, visits affected communities directly, engages local residents in recovery processes, and coordinates its activities with local authorities and humanitarian clusters.

The "Reconstruction" team also actively participates in the work of the Shelter Cluster and other coordination platforms to ensure effective, coordinated, and high-quality recovery of affected areas.
