The Emergency Appeal (EA) project “Continued Response to War in Ukraine” was implemented with the support of members of the Caritas Internationals confederation and was focused on supporting the most vulnerable citizens suffering from the consequences of war in rural areas close to the front line.

The main focus was on helping internally displaced persons in the first 30 days, people living within 40 km of the front line, elderly people 65+, people with disabilities, households with 3 or more children, headed by a woman, and low-income people.

Project areas of activity

MPCA Rapid Cash Assistance

Number of Beneficiaries: 5,514

The project’s multi-purpose cash assistance was provided to internally displaced persons in the first 30 days and to people living within 40 km of the line of active hostilities. This assistance is designed for 3 months to help people adapt to the new realities of life and support people in frontline areas.

Cash assistance for Winterization

Number of households: 1895

To provide cash assistance for winterization, assistance was provided to households that have lost access to their income/revenue, that rent housing with limited income, that live in poverty (in particular, in rented housing), that did not receive any winterization assistance last year, that have utility arrears for the previous months/year, low-income households, and that do not receive subsidies.

Food and hygiene kits (including specialized)

Number of kits issued: food — 5100; hygiene — 1700; specialized hygiene kits — 57.

During the project implementation, we had three waves of food and one hygiene kit for vulnerable categories of the population in the territories close to the front line. We also had specialized hygiene kits for people with limited mobility in the Nikopol, Sloviansk and Kherson communities.

Shelters for internally displaced persons

Number of shelters: 4

During the project, we operated 4 shelters in Yablunytsia, Yazlivka, Oleksandrivka, Ravi-Ruska, where internally displaced persons could live free of charge for 30 days.
